Finding a therapist who truly understands the unique pressures and challenges for physicians can be difficult—but working with Dr. Shaw has been such a positive shift in my life and career in medicine. From our very first session, I felt truly heard and understood in a way that I hadn’t experienced before. She creates safe space where I can be completely honest about my burnout and perfectionism, and the complex dynamics within my personal and professional life. She offers not only compassionate support but also practical strategies that have helped me navigate my career with more balance and resilience. Each session leaves me feeling lighter, more grounded, and better equipped to handle the demands of both my professional and personal life. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Shaw’s expertise, warmth, and unwavering support.

Best Therapist for Physicians
I don’t think anyone can prepare for the emotional and physical weight that comes with being a physician. At least, I certainly wasn’t. I struggled to identify why my life was spinning out of control when the rigors of medicine felt insurmountable. I felt isolated and undeserving of my perceived success. I met Dr. Shaw when I needed it most. During our sessions, I slowly started to develop an understanding of why I reacted to certain situations, allowing me to think differently about how I navigated the world. The storylines various players in health care like to create somehow makes providers forget who they are. Knowledge is power, and as a physician, understanding myself in an objective manner gave me the framework to build new habits and rebuild my sense of self-worth. I became a better doctor and a better person with the compassion and guidance of Dr. Shaw. I struggle to think of where I might be had I not sought her help, and I am forever grateful.

Patient and Kind
Telehealth
I've worked with Dr. Shaw for 5 years. Her patient and kind nature has made my experience with her life-changing. Working in the medical field made it difficult to find someone who understood my work and life stressors. Dr. Shaw understands me and my work. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone needing someone who will listen and make every session enjoyable.

Lovingly Delivered Truth Bombs
Telehealth
I met Dr. Shaw a couple of years ago shortly after the pandemic. I knew I wasn’t OK, but I didn’t know where to begin. Dr. Shaw help me organize my thoughts and realize my feelings I had after working on the front line in healthcare during the pandemic. She also kindly and lovingly, confronted some behaviors I was demonstrating that were acting as an obstacle getting in the way of healing. It was hard to hear, but I needed to hear it, and I couldn’t think of a better person delivering the truth than Dr. Shaw. She helped me through an incredibly difficult time in my life and I am beyond grateful for her. Dr. Shaw makes each visit feel like you’re catching up with a friend or a close Aunt. This meant the world to me. I highly recommend reaching out to Dr. Shaw to help you work through things you're going through so that you can live a more relaxed, fulfilling life.

A Great Therapist
Dr Shaw is a doctor that doesn't just sit and listen. Sessions are interactive, it's a conversation, and the feedback is delivered in a kind and honest manner. She is easy to relate to, a kind person, humorous when appropriate, and someone who listens and really cares. Sometimes, her loving dogs are also there to provide comfort and additional support.

Life-changing help
When I met Dr. Shaw, I was at an extremely low point in my life. She saw me, heard me, believed me, and she validated my thoughts, feelings, and opinions. She has helped me fill my tool belt with things that are realistic and helpful for my life. She truly is a blessing and I am so glad to have met her. She listens, she pays attention, and she reallys gets it. She gets that life can be hard, she is compassionate, and she really has guided me on my journey to get my life back. Always so grateful to see her and chat with her. Best therapy I have had in a very long time.

I worked with Dr. Shaw for years. I like to joke that I’ve known her longer than I’ve known my husband. She has helped me navigate so many life changes, and gave me the tools to move on independently. I don’t see her regularly anymore, but I think that is more a testament to her care! She was supportive and caring, but also challenged me when needed. I miss petting her sweet dogs during our sessions. I cannot recommend Dr. Shaw highly enough!

I met Dr. Shaw at a very difficult point in my life. I was desperate for help and Dr. Shaw was truly my savior. She scheduled our first session within a day of my inquiry and her investment in my wellbeing has been evident ever since. Dr. Shaw identified the issues I have been struggling with all my life and patiently but firmly guided me to find solutions. The areas I worked on with Dr. Shaw were self-compassion, interpersonal and romantic relationships. Dr. Shaw is an experienced and compassionate clinician, and I highly recommend her services.

Overall, Dr. Shaw helped me in areas like work. When it came to dating/relationships, she was very judgemental and shaming. After discussing this topic, I left feeling worse. I felt criticised and blamed for very serious issues. I did not feel emotionally safe with her. Very upsetting and would never recommend her to anyone

I started seeing Dr. Shaw almost 7 years ago. Looking back over these years, some of the biggest decisions and challenges I have successfully managed have been with her guidance and support. Her flexible schedule (evenings and weekends!) and calm empathetic style make her a perfect fit for doctors or other professionals. I would highly recommend her!

Dr Shaw is a wonderfully kind, compassionate, smart therapist who has a knack at both supporting the patient and challenging them to analyze their thoughts and the validity of some assumptions that may be contributing to suffering. She has helped me immensely and I am so grateful for the work we have done together. I can honestly say my life has been changed by doing therapy with her.

I've been seeing Dr. Shaw on and off for 5 years for ongoing help with PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction issues. She never ceases to surprise me with perspective insights and little tidbits of advice that stick with me long-term. I've been in therapy for almost 30 years now, and she is by far my most trusted confidante and effective therapist I've ever had.
