I appreciated that the KVH staff was able to schedule me right away. Rob thoughtfully prescribed a new antibiotics. Seems to be working quickly to relieve my pain and discomfort.

He had a student with him .He gave me his time. Not a clock watcher. He takes the time needed to explain things. He takes his job very seriously, one of the few Doctors still has a black bag and goes out to patients if needed.

Rob Merkel listens to the patient. Asks pertinent questions regarding why the person is there. He let's you know what your options are. If you require another physician he lets you know what options you have. He's a person who cares about his patients.

Rob is a very compassionate and caring Physicians Assistant! He listens intently and explains things so that you understand! He is very knowledgeable and very experienced in his profession! He is my primary medical provider and I would not want to have anyone else!

Rob knows his stuff and what he doesn't know he'll look up which makes him even better. He's very direct, he's not there to give you a hug and stroke your feelings but I need that and that works for me. He will call you on your BS and he's not going to subscribe something for the sake of subscribing it or to get through the appointment faster. The facility is incredibly understaffed with doctor and PA level people and they are very much a teaching clinic so you will frequently have a student in there with him but they always ask your consent and if you say no it's not an issue. Understaffed means the doctors and the PAs that are there are overworked so communication can be rough sometimes but that is to be expected. The portal is helpful but you will generally hear back from one of his assistants but when you are in there for an appointment you have his complete attention and he will take the time needed.

You could tell he was experienced in all the knowledge he could share with me about my health concerns and he took the time to do so.
