I switched from the Northwell Health OBGYN clinic to the Northwell Health midwifery practice and gave birth at Lenox Hill. I switched because of Risa, her dedication, magic and reputation as the baby turner. As a first-time parent I wanted to ensure my baby's birth would be as safe as possible, to give him the best start in life, and dreaded the idea of any complications which often lead to unnecessary interventions. I knew having Risa -best midwife in Manhattan, would be the best bet for a safe delivery. Furthermore, the joy and confidence she brings to your birth experience, the in-depth and holistic knowledge and care, education she gives you, dedication to her mamas makes me nostalgically look back at my pregnancy. She diagnosed an infection that went unnoticed before I switched to her care as well as pointed out how I could change my diet in important ways and helped me maintain better amniotic fluid levels. She cares about the whole you, and every aspect of you! Go with the best!

Risa Klein is one in a trillion! She is the perfect balance between clinical and humane - the unicorn midwife. I've had three incredible experiences with her, all with their unique challenges that Risa handled with grace and compassion without ever compromising my clinical care. She is the type of professional that makes you want to keep having kids just to experience her magic. I feel so fortunate she came into my life in time to bring my three children into this world. In my last pregnancy, she was amazing about including my two older children in the entire process. They fell in love with her the same way me and my husband did. Finding Risa was the best thing that could have happened to me for the birth of my second daughter. I had had a c-section and tough recovery with my first daughter and desperately wanted a VBAC. Had it not been for Risa's amaing care, I am sure I would have had a 2nd c-section as baby girl was posterior with cord around her neck. But I had the VBAC I so desperately wanted with both myself and baby girl healthy and happy. I am so grateful to Risa and her belief in me! Truly happy to have connected with her. She is a wonderful, caring, nurturing midwife.

I transferred to Risa’s care a little over halfway through my pregnancy because I wanted more individualized care, time to ask questions and attention paid to things like my nutrition, mental health and lifestyle. I got all of that and so much more. I ran into some complications toward the end of my pregnancy and I know that if I had been with a traditional OB, things would have gone very differently. Risa listened to my concerns, helped me understand what was happening, and supported how I was feeling. With her comprehensive approach, though I did end up needing a C-section (stubborn breech baby that wouldn’t turn), I still got the birth experience that I wanted. I really don’t know how I would have done it without her.

Caring, experienced, knowledgeable, listens to you and to your concerns. At the appointments she’s being a teacher, an expert, a friend, a mom, a shoulder to cry on. In the delivery room she’s tough, encouraging, fights for you to have the birth that you want. Although I interviewed multiple midwives, Risa was the perfect fit for our family. She’s loving, caring, extremely knowledgeable, and very transparent about her practice.
