Try another therapist. Despite my opening up to her about abuse and trauma I've experienced, and directly asking for her professional advice on getting back into the workforce as a disabled person and how to set up healthier daily habits, she literally did not offer one piece of advice or insight in the 2 months I was seeing her weekly. She'd just sit there and say "wow, that's really tough." Or at best, "why don't you write down your thoughts about that during the week." I gave it several weeks, thinking maybe it would take a few sessions to get to the real work, but the last straw was when I showed up and she had forgotten about our appointment. She did end up seeing me, but in the session she misgendered me, something I specifically told her on day one I needed not to ever happen in therapy. When I sent her an email saying I would be seeing another therapist, she never even acknowledged the message. Rena is means well, but unprofessional and unhelpful.
