I am a long-standing client of Randy’s. She listens carefully and closely, provides support, and offers excellent suggestions and strategies for navigating various issues. Her deep insight and nuanced skill have helped me deal with many of life’s challenges ranging from marital and family issues to career decisions. She has helped me separate out what matters from what I can let go of. It is amazing to have someone so smart and approachable as a therapist. She quickly grasps the problem(s) and sees a way to help you through it. I felt compelled to write this review after reading two completely inaccurate and false reviews posted here. (One called her arrogant! She is just the opposite. Down-to-Earth and approachable.) I would highly recommend Randy to anyone who wants an empathetic, supportive, problem-solving-focused therapist.

My ex and I saw Randy as our couples therapist. My ex is a white male, and I am an Asian female. In therapy, we told Randy about an argument between my ex and me: I wanted to buy a used decorative item. My ex looked at the picture of it scornfully and laughed at its uselessness: he said that it was pretty, expensive and useless, implying that only women would be impulsive enough to buy something like that. Randy asked me: “Are you sure this is not a benign joke? Sometimes men just joke about their wife’s shopping habits, but they don’t have bad intentions, and they do pay in the end.” I told Randy I was angry at my ex's comment. Randy said we need to explore why I had such a strong reaction and was not so tolerant. She said it probably had to do with my family background because as we all know, in Asian families, women tend to be very submissive to men because women have a lower status. She wanted to explore my family history to understand what led to my strong reaction.

Condescending person - avoid.
