It pains me to write this review. I was a patient of Dr. Leigh's for 10 years and absolutely loved her for most of that. However, as I entered perimenopause, that began to change. Upon expressing my concerns with some of my key symptoms -- insomnia, non-existent sex drive, weight gain, night sweats, heightened anxiety -- during a recent visit, she quickly shut me down. Rather than trying to understand my concerns, she interjected by explaining the risks of trying any kind of hormone therapy, stating that data on their effectiveness isn't great. Regarding my sex drive, she said that "sex drive is complicated" (true) and waved it off, saying that maybe I should see a sex therapist. However, the worst part of the recent visit was her reaction to my weight gain. I'm a highly active person (I compete in Ironman distance triathlons) and made significant changes to my diet this year that helped a bit. During my examination, she started to launch into some exercise routine she recently started that yielded great results and then said, "and I'm older than you and have had three babies." I felt horrible for a solid week after that visit and began doing research on local gynecologists who specialize in menopause and perimenopause. My new doctor put me on a very low dose of estrogen, which hasn't eliminated my symptoms (I didn't expect that -- just wanted some help), but has noticeably improved them. My sex drive is back after lying dormant for three years and I've seen improvements in both my sleep and my mood. Dr. Leigh is probably a wonderful doctor for women in the earlier stages of life -- she was for me -- but I cannot in good faith recommend her to any woman entering perimenopause/menopause. I'll never visit her again.
