Rachel Knafel, NP

I have made two appointments with Rachel Knafel and I never will again. First appointment I came to her asking for guidance and information on finding a more effective anti depressant or anti anxiety medication, and she told me she “could not help with that” and recommended I contact a psychiatrist instead—which I had done prior to meeting with her, the medicine I was currently on had been prescribed by a psychiatrist. I then adopted cats for additional emotional support, they have helped me regulate my emotions over the years in addition to my current medication. However, when I went back to Rachel for documentation confirming that my cats are indeed emotional support animals, she told me “doctors don’t do that anymore' and 'my mental health cannot depend on a living being with a shorter lifespan than me'. Seems to me that Rachel either doesn't understand how helpful pets can be for someone with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, or she just doesn't care to provide any actual help.

I had my first visit with Rachel last week and she listened to me, repeated back my history and family history, made some recommendations and I have my first physician schedule soon. She was easy to talk to and really listened well.

Rachel is caring and committed to root cause. I appreciate how available she is, and that she looks at my chart and chief complaint before she comes in the exam room. We relate and I have built trust with her.
