Dr. Petra Duran, PHD

I came out of the appointment feeling belittled and dismissed. She was rude and condescending. She kept reminding us she was the "professional," and I was "just mom." She didn't ask anything about things we had already tried and was incredibly rude when I mentioned what I had already looked into. Whatever you do, don't mention Dr. Becky. She will push their internal program developed by one of their doctors. She could not give any information regarding their "program," and they could not provide additional details for a parent to decide if this was the correct next step for their child. She also gave a diagnosis based on a 10-minute conversation and ignored my concerns. She focused on only one thing and refused to move past it. She disregarded the information we provided as someone with over 30 years of experience working with children in an educational setting. She said that the diagnosis didn't matter because she was not going to a public school, so it didn't make a difference. She also did not ask about our plans for the upcoming school year, or we would have told her we planned to enter a public school in a few months. I wasn't given the space to share more things with you. It was just answering the questions they asked. I left the meeting feeling helpless and gaslighted.
