I was in my second appointment with Nancy and was telling her about my husband and the emotional abuse I was experiencing and that I felt that my husband has narcissistic traits and Nancy said “Maybe your husband has Autism. My son has Autism and some of what you’re describing is characteristics that often occur in people with Autism.” I could not believe I was being so invalidated. That’s what my husband was doing and I didn’t need it from my therapist too.
