I have never felt so manipulated by a medical professional. During our appointment, she agreed with me several times that my pain medication “wasn’t cutting it”. She then lowered my dosage and frequency. When I called to ask why, (not for a refill) she became angry and defensive, telling me I was putting her medical license in jeopardy. When I asked what I should do, since pain from this complication can last for months and she clearly wouldn’t refill my prescription, she advised me to visit the emergency room every three days for a refill until my symptoms resolved, or until I could see my PCP. That is not a solution. I have an active blood clot. This was caused by a surgery performed by her office. She promised me repeatedly that she, “wouldn’t let me suffer”, during our appointment and then absolutely changed her tune on a dime. Regardless of policy, the response to a patent in pain shouldn’t be a panicked accusation followed by total dismissal. I’m disgusted.
