There's a difference between professional and cold. This provider runs cold, lacking empathy and person-centered approaches when it matters most. I felt like they didn't care about me, or anything I said. What I initially wrote off as them being closed off with strong boundaries, I know understand to be completely and wildly unacceptable. Perhaps a symptom of burnout, or just a personality that runs contrary to what you'd expect in a therapist. Good therapists don't make you feel like your an object on an assembly line, identical to the ones before, and able to be boxed in at arm's length. A good therapist makes clients feel seen, and they do this through good boundaries and an important degree of human-ness to foster connection and genuine care.
