During my sessions I felt like I wasn’t really listened to. I had something rather traumatic happen to me and I felt as if it was being completely dismissed. This therapist focused way too quickly on solutions rather than processing through the trauma first. I also just felt like there was an overall lack of empathy. Her approach maybe effective for the some people but wasn’t effective for me at all esp after a traumatic event.

Projected her own feelings about a similar situation she’s been through onto my experience, without listening to the language I was actually using the describe how I felt... Focused on using an “empowered vs victim” binary that implied I was in the wrong for feeling victimized by a traumatic experience and wanting to explore that in a therapeutic session— would NOT recommend for someone who’s fresh on the heels of something difficult and wanting a soft place to land with a therapist who’s curious to peel back the layers of the experience versus try to coerce you into moving on quickly by using the word “victim” to mean something negative.

I could not recommend less. Miko Jones was incredibly condescending from our first contact via phone call all the way until our session. I have seen many therapists throughout the years, but this experience was truly and outstandingly awful. Just looking at the way she responds to negative reviews on here I can say I’m not that surprised, just disappointed to have wasted my time.
