I have been a Registered Nurse for 35 yrs and did not know that I had become a Codependent person. For most of my life, I helped everybody else and in return I didn’t get a whole lot back. I did not have the satisfaction of helping people or making a difference in someone’s life. Actually, my life became more miserable and unfulfilled. Michele had pointed out that I was a codependent person. Listen to the CD of “ Codependence no more.” I was amazed that I could identify with about 85% of the authors comments. With some hesitation, I found and went to a Al-Anon group meeting. I did not have any drug or alcohol issues in my family, but I was codependent, an enabler, I was always trying to help somebody. To be the good guy to be the one everybody wanted to be with and I was only fooling myself. Al-Anon helped me to redirect what I was needing from people, Especially my son!
