Melinda Brooks, NPC

There is a huge likelihood of me recommending Melinda Brooks to family and friends. She and I seem to be in the same age group and that means a lot to me. I think she's a great person and cares a great deal as well.

She is a very understanding and professional doctor.

She is always so involved in the visit. She listens to your concerns and researches needed information quickly on site. She is very personal, yet professional.

I went in for an annual checkup and she was very condescending and rude. She told me that I would need to come back to her office in a few weeks for blood work because she “orders blood work for everyone as part of their checkup,” not because there was anything of concern discovered during the checkup. I did what I was told and a couple months later, I received a bill for $365 out of pocket (after insurance) just for the blood work. After investigating the bill, I learned that her office charges WAY more for the blood work than if I would have gone to a different lab, like TriCore. I feel it was somewhat unethical of her to: 1) Order tests that were optional without even asking me if I wanted the tests 2) Making it sound like the blood work would be covered under the cost of the annual checkup 3) Making the decision that the blood work would be completed at her office at a more expensive rate instead of giving me options to other locations. Felt like I was scammed.

Listened to my concerns and then addressed them all. Then within 5 days the office did a follow up and she reviewed my lab work and addressed those concerns. Outstanding care and attitude towards me and my family.

Great, she listened and provided advice that made a great difference in my health. She recommended specialists when needed. It is hard enough to find a medical person I trust and have confidence in. Melinda Brooks provided that ! Now I can't find her, so I am left with no doctor.

Melinda Brooks is about as inept an individual as possible. She was caring for my elderly Mother and was beyond incompetent. This woman is a danger to her profession and you would be strongly advised to run as far from her as possible. I will be contacting all agencies in New Mexico to do everything in my power to have her stop practicing any type of medicine. Beware. You have been warned.

In September 2016 my son was presented to Dr.Brooks with contracture in both elbows. He had no known injury to either elbow and was in extreme pain. An x-ray was performed in which my son was misdiagnosed with a fracture to ONE elbow (not explaining the contracture in the other) and sent to the Orthopedic doctor who confirmed there was no fracture. After consulting with another physician my son was diagnosed with Leukemia.
