This counselor decided I had cannabis use disorder because I’m a medical patient and have been for almost a decade. I was absolutely stunned that a provider could come up with this diagnosis simply on that basis. When you think you know more than my medical team and you aren’t a doctor, it’s time to check your ego and maybe do some research. It took me a month after hearing this to even have the courage to find another therapist because I felt so betrayed and not heard. Thankfully I was able to find another provider that isn’t so out of touch!
