Matthew Adams, LPC

We met with him over 7 months, he seemed interested in helping us to work on our marriage. He spoke of things he would like to do with us - lists, other exercises. I spent a lot of time on things because they seemed important to share openly. He never had us jointly, or singley talk thru them. When I asked why not, his answer was snippy and he said “it’s not like it’s homework! Time and again he didn’t engage, he bullied both of us and I know he was the true demise of our 37 year marriage. My husband said things seem to be going off course and Matt told him nothing was off course and he neede to engage with the process. He treated us both unprofessionally so it was not the he outwardly favored one over the other. It was a pretty traumatic time with Matt after the first few sessions. It truly felt, he wanted us to feel worse about the other spouse, regularly. I don’t think any couple who is trying to work on strengthening their marriage should NEVER do marriage counseling with Matt! And after 8 months with him , we said we couldn’t be married anymore. The counseling caused way more damage than we ever experienced. He seemed to take some satisfaction from that, and that is unprofessional and bottom line, just mean spirited.
