I started therapy because I wanted to deal with some long unaddressed trauma and grief, but I didn’t realize how much I really needed to address these things until I started working through them with Martha. She helped me make connections between this trauma and other aspects of my life, not just the emotional and social aspects but physical ones as well. Talking about embodiment was a big part of healing for me and I appreciated her knowledge and guidance in that area (among many others). But more than anything else she helped me make sense of things, putting words to trauma in a way that allowed me to “unfreeze,” feel, and move forward over the course of the two years I saw her. My work with her was completely life changing—I am so grateful to her for her skill and kindness.

Mature, Compassionate, Skilled
I was a patient of Martha's for four years. I used to wonder if therapy really worked in any kind of meaningful way. When I look back at who I was four years ago it is evident to me that I have truly become someone different than who I was, that I have found meaningful relief at a gut level, that there has been some true healing (versus just understanding) of my past traumas. I used to feel anxious most of the time, fearful of what others thought of me, that I was inherently broken. Martha has been instrumental in helping me grow to a point where I am no longer driven by those things and instead feel most of the time like a healthy, competent, valuable person living an imperfect human existence. I think she worked hard at letting me feel safe, then skillfully provided insight for me that I could absorb. Admittedly, I was very willing and put in a lot of work, but without Martha's mature, compassionate, and skilled approach I would have not been changed as profoundly as I have.

I've had a few major life disruptions in the recent past, and felt overwhelmed with grief and confusion. When I first met Martha, I was tormented by anxiety and sadness - not sure how to even move forward. Martha compassionately became my guide and partner on a journey of personal growth and enablement. A year later, can can look at my past, not with regret or sadness, but as a meaningful journey where I overcame personal challenges with Martha's guidance. I am sincerely grateful to Martha's support through my journey and highly recommend her to anyone seeking a kind and compassionate therapist.
