Liberally diagnoses, skips the comprehensive piece
Brought my child in for an education eval and it seemed like he only wanted to talk about autism being the root cause of most learning issues. He said parent and teacher feedback is irrelevant, so while he collected it on paper he mentioned verbally that he doesn’t look at it to make a determination. Immediately post-eval he spoke like his goal was to destigmatize autism, which would’ve been comforting if it didn’t feel projective and not at all like he was describing my child. When I brought the report to the school, they said they’ve been seeing many lvl 1 reports from Dr. Solnick and highly suggested a 2nd opinion. I could sense they were annoyed and aware of it being an issue. The next psychologist with 30yrs experience said my child was well below the first percentile, met none of the updated criteria, and would never be flagged for an asd eval. The stress and wait to have my child’s needs assessed, and now to correct medical records and insurance, has been unimaginable.

Helped us a great deal.
Dr Solnick evaluated my 13 year old. Explained a lot about her diagnosis. Was very thorough. Was straightforward and to the point which was wonderful. We now understand our daughter better and know how to help her. We are so thankful.

Cold and in a rush, terrible people skills
Dr seemed very knowledgeable of the overall subject however seemed like he was in a rush. Made us wait for 10-15 minutes even when the office was empty, then saw us but didn’t seem to care about our thoughts and concerns about our child. Was very blunt to us and cold to our child. Terrible bedside manner, very negative, pushy and irritable. Explained the testing process and couldn’t provide detail until able to see the data from the testing which totally understood but didn’t provide any optimistic details on possible therapies or setting expectations, it was all negative. After 20 minutes it was over. It was the first visit but we were very turned off by the visit. We came expecting to hear some optimism on what could be done, with worst case scenario not to hear all doom and gloom with nothing being able to be done. We won’t be going back.

WhileI believe Dr Solnick is very intelligent and good at what he does on an analytical side his "bedside manner" is rather cold. Throughout the entire evaluation process he seemed rather put off or irritated with both parent and child. When it was expressed that medicating was a concern for us in terms of ADHD he became more irritated and short. I would expect for someone working with children that they would be much more compassionate and understanding.

Dr. Solnick was very through taking the time to listen to my son and I separately, diagnosed with autism he had been wrongly diagnosed with ADD beforehand. He was kind, answered my questions, and made the process very understandable for me. Would recommend. Also, these assessments aren’t really super fun and do take your time and effort as parents it’s hard. Dr. Solnick was great.

Dr. Solnik is very intelligent. However, on a bad note he seems to be lacking control in one or more areas of his personal life and therefore tries to seek that control in his professional life. He will not acquiesce to simple requests. He's proven himself to be elusive and in general uncooperative. I hope he seeks some mental/emotional help. Doing so will help him a great deal in his professional life as I am not the only one who has been dissatisfied with his behavior and conduct.

Dr. Solnick thoroughly examined my 13 year old, diagnosing autism after 4 previous neuropsychiatric exams failed to even assess for autism. My poor child had previously been misdiagnosed as having a range of mental health disorders, and the medication led to deterioration of condition. Dr. Solnick’s diagnoses and recommended treatment quite possibly has saved my child’s life.

Poor assessment results. Just wanted to diagnose my child so that he could get my business for ABA therapy. Doesn't really know Autism. Conflicting evaluation results. My doctor and other professionals were displeased with his report.
