Will talk over you
I saw her a few times recently and finally stopped going because I was getting frustrated with her interrupting me in the middle of a thought or answer. She’s also entirely too “men are this” “women are this” instead of treating people as humans. I felt she was pushing me to bring my partner to couples therapy even though I only intended on getting individual therapy

Madeline Alford is the counselor of 3 kids. However, she bases her sessions on drilling them on "life at dads." And only focuses on what negativity she can pull out of them. But when asked in court what life at moms is like her answer is, "oh the kids aren't allowed to speak about what happens at moms." Yet that throws no red flags. So she uses her sessions with the 3 kids to only ask about what dad does wrong, then expand on that and drill into them hatred for their father. Side note: the mother pays for these counseling sessions.

Conflicts parents
Told my ex husband one thing, my mother and I another thing and a completely different story at court. She is very nice in the appointment and makes you feel comfortable then changes everything!

I am court ordered to do counseling. See the one star review below me. The “concerned grandfather” has never been to the office and my child is not scared of me. He is being brainwashed by his grandparents into thinking I’m a monster because I fought back against abuse by their son. Mrs Alford doesn’t tolerate nonsense and she’s VERY professional. She sees that the grandparents corrupt my child and recognizes the parental alienation caused by them. I adore Mrs Alford and will continue to be a client of hers.

I took my 10 year old daughter to counseling due to her showing signs of depression p(which run in our family) and self-esteem issues with regard to making friends at school. Prior to meeting with my daughter, she met alone with me to get the context on why we were seeking counseling. This meeting involved my being interrupted with judgmental comments or questions, some of which were outright insulting. She dismissed all my concerns and also questioned my diagnosis of ADHD (by an actual doctor, a psychiatrist), questioning why I’m taking the medication my doctor prescribed and whether I really need it. She told me in a condescending tone I need counseling more than her (true, perhaps, but said in a mocking tone). When she spoke with my daughter, she asked a lot of questions but offered no solutions. Then she told me and her at the end of the session “There’s nothing wrong with her, she’s just worrisome like her mother.” I left feeling so demeaned, and my daughter didn’t feel helped.

My review is not good. This Counselor somewhat helped my wife, but did not help me at all. We are senior citizens. She actually insulted me - whether she thought it would be of therapeutic value; I don't know. All I can say is, I left the session feeling worse than when I came in. It may be time for her to retire. I checked the user agreement even though this Counselor is not a Doctor. Counseling is by definition, a very personal and private relationship. It often requires more than just one session. However, in my case, one session was enough to tell me that this was not a good "fit".

Counseling with this counselor was a disaster. She is unethical and promotes conflict between parents. She doesn't give strategy to settle conflict. She is two-faced and tells one parent one thing and tells the other a whole separate thing. She shouldn't be counseling anyone.

Madeline helped my family so much. She really tried to save our marriage and is truly an amazing person. I highly recommend her for marriage counseling, Its hard to find people that do not just automatically recommend divorce. Her office manager is super sweet and works really hard to get you in as soon as she can!

I didn't feel I could trust her knowing she was also treating my husband. Definitely won't be going back to her. She didn't find where my issue was rooted from. Didn't really give me a solution either. My husband told me afterwards she told him to get out of the marriage and he also said she told him I had a psychological issue. When I met with her in the beginning she told me that everything is confidential. My husband even told this information "he had received from Ms Alford" to our pastor.

Madeline Alford is the best counselor ever. She gave my family and I the strength to move though one of the roughest times in our lives. She gave me the courage to become the wonderful person I am today. Even after all these years I still talk about her and the strength she has given me. She is always extremely helpful, caring, a great listener, and just overall a wonderful person. Thank you for being there for me and my family Madeline. Thank you for being my rock. It truly means a lot.

I strongly felt that she did not listen to use when we sought help from her in counselling for our marriage. She was very condescending and we found another counsellor. I later found out that she gave my husband a divorce attorney's phone number and recommendation without him even asking for it. If a couple seeks help for a marriage, how can they get help if the marriage counsellor has already thrown in the towel on them. I think that goes against all ethics to give someone a divorce attorney.
