Lynn Kell, LCSW

Lynn Kell was my assigned therapist at Rivendell in the 1990s, & I've never forgotten the negative experience I had with her & how it shaped my trajectory & view of therapists for years to come. I had recently been returned from state custody to my mom, after she chose my abuser over me. In retrospect, it's no wonder I was depressed, suicidal, "acting out," & having a difficult time adjusting: I had been traumatized for more than a decade while my mom watched & then abandoned me. Lynn's approach to our "family sessions" was to yell at me & try to berate me into compliance. She didn't help me process my trauma or name why I was hurt by my mom. Instead, Lynn focused on me being a bad kid who needed to fix my behaviors. Today, I'm a psychologist & cannot imagine berating or gaslighting vulnerable patients in this way. I hope Lynn has come a LONG way in her training & approach to traumatized patients, as her approach back then was harmful, unethical, & not based on scientific literature.
