Dr. Lisa Shaffer, PSY.D

Dr. Shaffer informed me she has a waitlist despite listing her Healthgrades profile as accepting new patients. I will update my neutral review when I move up the waitlist.

Dr. Shaffer was able to fit me in the same day when I called her office in crisis. She didn’t hesitate to go above and beyond for me even though I was a new patient. She stayed late to see me. I feel like she hears me and truly cares about my situation. She recommended a great book at my first visit.

I received treatment from Dr. Shaffer in the fall of 2016. I had to withdraw from therapy due to numerous cancelled appointments on her behalf due to her nail appointments, hair appointments, etc. I have called her in a dire need of emergency, not receiving contact for 3 days. My sister currently sees her and will be withdrawing as well. She attempted to bill us for missed appointments due to school, despite her beauty appointments. Terrible therapist with a disconnect to her clients.

When I began therapy with Dr. Shaffer, I had a very difficult time talking about or even identifying my feelings. It took me awhile to open up and share my own childhood trauma and abuse with her. I had been in counseling for 20+ years and had never told any counselor about it. Dr. Lisa Shaffer has used different strategies to help me deal with the depression, stress and panic attacks effectively. She is very knowledgable about the 12 step programs and able to incorporate it into my therapy.

Dr. Shaffer is very easy to talk to. I always felt comfortable to say what I was feeling. She really listens to what you're saying. I felt free to be myself.

I would never advise anyone to see Lisa. She is unable to provide any actual support or guidance for children or family members. Rather than bringing a family together, Lisa focuses on creating division. Attempting to cause direct conflict and place the child right into the middle of the conflict Lisa has created. She is a danger to any child who sees her.

After learning she specialized in trauma and abuse I wasn't sure I was a good fit for her practice. Although she has specialized training and extensive experience in that area, After meeting her I learned that she is a gifted therapist who can help with many different issues. I have been seeing her for over a year and feel that I have made significant progress with my depression during that time. She is a very caring and compassionate therapist. I highly recommend Dr. Schaffer.

Dr. Shaffer had a wonderful approach with my child and immediately made him feel at ease.
