As a person who has lived with Type 2 diabetes for a long time, when I received my chronic kidney disease diagnosis, I was distraught over how my "healthy eating" had actually become a detriment to my kidneys. I met with Lauren about a month after my official diagnosis and she settled me down over an hour. the key was to reduce potassium in my diet by over 50%. Even though I had to cut out four or five foods (potatoes, tomatoes, avocados were included), I was reminded with portion control, I could still eat almost anything. Lauren is knowledgable and a pleasure to work with, as I plan to touch base with her every 12 to 24 months to stay ahead of any changes in my health or with the guidelines.
