Advocate for Respect and Compassion in Birth Care
Laura was assigned as my sister's midwife, and from the first meeting, it was clear this would be a challenging experience. She dismissed my sister's questions about her birth plan, leaving her feeling unheard and disempowered. Critical decisions were made for her, not with her, eroding trust and respect. Which forced her to use other avenues during her birthing experience. As a fellow birth worker, I urge you to do better. Compassion and patient-centered care are essential in fostering trust and dignity—insensitivity and bias have no place in this work.
