I ended up feeling awful about myself and a bit violated after my yearly exam. I’m still kind of unsure exactly why, and I’m sorting out a series of events to try to understand. 1. I could’ve been the assistant taking notes (with a deer in the headlights look) on my boring, uneventful health history. 2. Or it could’ve been the lacking connection between Dr. patient as Dr. Lane so quickly breezed through my file, saying she was going to get to know me but didn’t. 3. I think it was probably her inability to gently handle the situation of finding a breast lump (most likely a cyst) and then accusing me of not doing self exams and scared me into getting a mammogram and said she couldn’t help me until I got the results of the mammogram. 4.Actually it might’ve been the undertones of shame towards me for Not doing a colonoscopy and yearly exams. Lastly there was one other thing I realized after leaving her office,I can’t even say it here but I felt a bit violated.
