As previous review mentioned, I wish I saw this page before I started. The negative comments are 100% true & I had the same experience. At first it went well, I shared everything, Ken asked some good questions, I could reflect & made progress. Things fell apart once another therapist that he recommended became involved with my spouse. Ken shared incorrect information about our individual sessions, misrepresented me, denied any progress and fixated on flaws. This was beyond 'pushing back', 'challenging me', or having 'uncomfortable or messy' conversations. Ken began to make factual errors in recall of our conversations, become defensive & unsupportive, ignored my needs, dismissed my thoughts & feelings, & created an unsafe space full of distrust due to his own lying. My progress ground to a halt, yet I tried talking through it & giving him chances to repair, but he refused to take responsibility & be accountable for documented mistakes he made. He wants to delay your progress.

Ken often appeared very hypersensitive during sessions. He often appeared to express a need for superiority over myself and others. The "therapy" had zero object constancy as he would state things and then change his opinion and what he previously stated or completely appear to forget what was said.

Ken helped me work on and process trauma as well as my impulsive behaviors and the link between the two. We got to the root of the barriers in my life and he did it with tact and humor. I appreciate him and his care! Thumbs up for Ken!!

Wish I found this website before I saw him. He would often insult, shame and degrade me. He tried to have influence over my personal choices. He had no regard for my thoughts and feelings. He would invalidate my experiences and mock me. I would have extreme adverse reactions after sessions. He appeared to lack ability to emphasize in the therapeutic space.

My experience with Ken when he was my therapist was excellent. I had just been diagnosed with an addiction issue, and I was in pretty heavy denial about it. I knew I had a problem, but I was really hesitant to delve deep into the trauma that I now know was driving it. Ken was extremely kind and patient with me, leading me through sessions to uncover the trauma, as well as providing me with compassionate suggestions to deal with immediate issues. He never pushed me too hard or too soon. He showed compassion for me and my spouse, and gently prodded me towards cultivating empathy for others. I felt safe to share some very difficult times of my life with Ken. I will always appreciate and be grateful for his compassion and thoughtfulness, his depth and breath of knowledge, and his nurturing path that led me to recovery.

If I was able to give a rating higher than a 5 star, I would for Ken Ovitz. I had been in unsuccessful therapy for many years before I met Ken. I “skated” through therapy prior to working with Ken by telling the therapist what I thought they wanted to hear. I didn’t do the work. That changed in 2020 when I met Ken. He challenged me, held me accountable, and he showed empathy as we dug into my childhood trauma and sexual abuse. I read a few of the other reviews on this site, and I could not disagree more. Ken made time for our appointments and worked around my unusual work schedule, often meeting before 7 am. If you don’t want to do the necessary work in your recovery, don’t call Ken. If you need to make changes, and want someone to guide you, I recommend Ken Ovitz. I am in recovery today because I am doing the work daily.

No I would not recommend. The therapy was directionless. Really can't even call it therapy.

Ken had no regard for my thoughts &feelings. He would invalidate my trauma & mock me. He appeared to lack the ability to emphasize. He would emotionally invalidate my trauma, he would rationalize the the abuse and justified it. He stated that I contributed to it. He acted in kind with suspicion with the information I disclosed. He would not consider my point of view. He would only focus on my perceived flaws and short comings to shame me. He attempted to instill in me a persistent sense of self-doubt & uncertainty about what I experienced & who I am. Ken was frequently late & the therapy was directionless. He taught me no skills or techniques over a 5 month period. He broke my confidentiality and breached my privacy by talking to others about me. He would frequently forget or pretend to forget details I shared.

I agree with the previous Five star review, Ken is a Great therapist and has made a huge positive impact in my life. I know without a doubt he has helped a multitude of others besides me. He is extremely knowledgeable in various addictions and is able to use that along with his years of experience to help people realize and better their lives through his expert insight and talent. I feel I can talk about anything with Ken, And know that he will help and guide me to the best I can be. I have learned so much from Ken in a short amount of time, and I am able to apply that knowledge throughout my life forward. I would highly recommend Ken to anyone seeking help.

Talking to him was an utter waste of my money and time.

Ken does not listen and only wants to tell you what he thinks is wrong with you instead of listening to the client. He treats people like they completely do not matter and he is very self-centered.

Ken has no bedside manner. He completely lacks integrity. He's not kind.
