Ken was appointed to mediate custody for my three children. He spoke in tounges and we could barely understand him. I was unable to send him emails as he only excepts faxes. He would not conduct video conferences as he only uses phone calls. He seemed out of touch and would not listen to facts, he just went on about his experience and how the courts work, and what the courts want to hear. Then he submitted a handwritten opinion to the courts. Ken seemed to be "checking the boxes" as he spoke. I can't believe that Ken Johnstone is still allowed to submit custody judgments to the courts. He is the most unprofessional Mediator I have ever dealt with.

Ken Johnstone was appointed to mediate a temporary emergency custody case for our family. In my first contact with him I found him distracted and annoyed to be dealing with us. He is impossible to contact via email, his voice message box is full and he only checks his mail once a week. He called me back at 5:50 p.m., I had requsted a call back after 5:00 p.m. due to my work schedule. It was immediately apparent he was drunk. He slurred his words, was confused but he was more jovial than earlier in the day. I am appalled that the state of California would allow such a person to determine the fate of children, our most valued and precious beings.

Ken Johnstone mediated my daughter's child custody hearing. For two hours he told stories and talked about himself. He had no interest in asking questions, listening to determine the facts of the situation and making an informed decision the in the best interest of the children. He was absolutely, lazy, incompetent and derelict in his duty to the courts and the family. Ken Johnstone should never be allowed to mediate again.
