I am now 34 but I saw Dr Dodge when I was about 14-16 years old. My parents brought me in because of my behavior in school and my rebellious ways. They were sure I was the problem, however, Dr Dodge after asking many thoughtful questions about the relationship I held with my brother and my parents he actually met with my parents who where dumbfounded to realize that some of their parenting styles and my moms willful blindness to her actions that affected me was the reason why I was acting up. Mind you I was adopted and although they had good intention they were poorly instructed by another therapist upon ways of disciplining me and my brother along with smothering us with overprotective behaviors that were negatively affecting our relationship. Thankfully both my parents and Dr Dodge came to an understanding and objectively helped me to improve my behavior. This man was absolutely key to my development as a young man in a confusing and frustrating family setting. Highly Recommended!

When I was a child, my parents put me into therapy with Dr. Ken Dodge. This man put me in a room with my abuser to "talk things out", and when I didn't want to speak, Dr. Dodge turned to me and made a comment about me "Acting like a tough chick" because I wasn't participating. I was being emotionally and physically abused at home and his "methods" did nothing to extract that information from me or help me understand what was happening to me. At one point his advice for me was to punch a pillow when I get upset. It's taken me years to trust therapists/psychologists after my experience with him, but I'm finally happy to say that I've found a therapist who actually listens to me and cares about my wellbeing.
