A very upsetting experience
I had seen negative reviews about Kelly McAuliffe from this very thread, but decided to give her a chance considering I needed an appointment soon and she was taking new patients. I left the appointment crying. She was extremely judgmental and made me feel like my symptoms were impossible. I went in specifically for a wellness check and to speak about some mood concerns I had been having on my BC pill and what I think could be causing it based on my monitoring of symptoms over time, and she looked at me like I had five heads. At the end of the appointment, she said she didn't know if anxiety meds were the right option because she had just met me, and then said 'So, it's up to you on what you want to do.' I was shocked to receive an answer like that from someone who is a doctor, which I am not. I got no answers & feel more confused now than I did going in. I will not be going back and I do not recommend her to anyone who is looking for a compassionate, friendly, and knowledgeable PCP.

Not a good NP
I’m a primary care provider who used to see Kelly McAulliffe. She’s dismissive, curt, very judgmental, and not exceedingly knowledgeable; unfortunately, this is an opinion that’s based on multiple encounters with her, not just a one-off day. As a person who works in same field as she, she’s in desperate need of counseling by her SP and needs to take a course on professionalism. Probably goes without saying, but I am no longer willing to see her and changed practices for my primary care needs. I would advise anyone seeking a compassionate, well-educated provider to look elsewhere.

Unbelievable
My family has been seeing Kelly for a few years and all have had negative experiences.Kelly comes in quickly and barely greets you.Immediately wants you to sum up your need.No time for discussion.I presented a few symptoms and a few possibilities of what I thought could be causing it and she laughed and put her hands in the air and said “ok, so what are you here for and what do you want MY help with TODAY?!”I was shocked.Another family member had an ER visit and did not receive the best care so we followed up with Kelly. She did not listen, interrupted, interjected, contradicted our concerns and when we pointed out to her that her demeanor was horrible, she replied, “Oh, I know, it’s always that way for you”.None of us have had a confrontation with her, we’ve just tolerated her, so not sure why that was said, either way it's unbelievable. She makes you feel dumb. She gave the meds we needed and told us symptoms to watch for, but lacked empathy and compassion. We felt like an imposition.

Numerous poor experiences
I switched to this provider from another in Powhatan when we moved. I have an anxiety disorder and during a flare McAuliffe actually yelled at me during the visit. I saw her one other time after that, but changed to another provider in the same practice--different location. She is in need of training about handling patients with health anxiety. Yelling doesn't work, never has, never will. What does help? Feeling listened to. With health anxiety, a big fear is that you won't be taken seriously. I switched to Lynn Woodcock who has done an amazing job HELPING me mitigate the scary thoughts, and has useful recommendations about anxiety management and self care. I have thrived under Lynn's capable care.

Horrific
This woman has the worst bedside manner of anyone I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had multiple appointments with her and have chalked a few of the negative visits up to her possibly having a bad day but I’ve come to realize that she just has a nasty personality. Wouldn’t recommend.

Blames everything on anxiety & rude
Incredibly rude and lacks compassion. Had her a while back and she kept trying to blame everything on anxiety and would make rude/unprofessional comments! After finding another compassionate dr that took me seriously, I got diagnosed with CANCER plus several other serious conditions that she never even considered or tested for! If you don’t have the standard cookie cutter symptoms she won’t do anything unless you’re on anxiety meds. I’m still shocked years later by her behavior. So bad I want to give her a zero but since that’s not possible I’m giving her a one

Wonderful care
I see Kelly for my general care. I could not be more thankful for her attentiveness and true interest in helping with my well-being and health. She has always been spot on with her diagnosis and has excellent "bed-side manor." If you are seeking a medical provider that is knowledgeable and caring, look no further.

Capable and caring professional
I see Kelly for my general care, and she has always been attentive to my needs. I had a significant diagnosis that I now see lots of doctors for, and she is kept informed of my progress. At every appointment with her, she has taken the time to review my chart and any new medical records that come in, so she can help me navigate next steps. She always has my best interests in mind. I highly recommend her as a primary care provider, as she is capable and kind. I feel like she knows me personally and is in my corner.

I gave her a few chances but will no longer be returning. She lacks compassion and empathy towards her patients. When I returned and told her I was not a fan of the medication she put me on, she said “do you even want my help? Why are you here?” Very rude and unprofessional, instead of recommending something else. She also told me I had been on “so many anxiety medications” and needed a psych evaluation, when I had only tried 2 at the time of my visit, which I feel was a jab at me for trying to help my problem?

I am grateful that she saw me on such a short notice. And, she covered all of her bases (as far as testing for a condition). I have to admit, I felt as though she did not listen to my concerns and see them as my priority. She appeared more concerned about trying to address my physical conditions vs. my emotional conditions. She was professional; I was scared; she lacked empathy. She blew over my emotional state and addressed the black and white. So far, this wasn't enough for me to not return. But judging by the other reviews, her candor could use some compassion. I trust her plan of care.

Was asked by ER to contact primary care about my positive Covid-19 test. When I contacted Kelly she basically said good luck, and there is nothing we can do to help.

I saw Kelly in January 2020, she had an intern with her. I felt she did not listen or offer anything for treatment. I ended up in the ER because she thought I just needed cough medicine. I only go to the doctor when I am really sick and had already drank bottles of cough medicine over a period of time trying to treat it myself which is why I was there. The intern even tried to speak up for me. Kelly said "It's Viral and walked out of the room" (no compassion, it was like she was trying to send a message to the intern, like don't let these people fool you) I could barely breathe. I felt my lungs were full and I could hear/feel it. A few days later I ended up at the ER where I got breathing treatments and several other medications to help me breathe.

I’ve been seeing Kelly for many years. Kelly is ALWAYS concerned for her patients. She treats her patients with respect and makes sure you understand her diagnosis. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, thorough family practitioner.

I would be happy to talk to someone more in detail about the absolute rudeness of this doctor. Completely shocked with her lack of respect (and just plain decency in general) and condescending attitude/comments. I was shocked.
