This practitioner’s receptionist tried to tell me the provider is a psychiatrist and a nurse practitioner. This isn’t true, as a psychiatrist is an MD. After many referral attempts by my daughter’s PC , they kept saying they never received, my doubts started. Sur to my daughter’s severe mental health issues, I do the initial calling and paperwork.They apparently didn’t like that, and indicated they would not treat her.I don’t believe this practitioner is very good at listening or capable of treating people with more than anything but mild depression.Please avoid this practice if you or your loved ones don’t want to end up in a mental institution or condition get worse rather than better!I’m not sure who is leaving the great reviews, but I would certainly question their validity.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Doesn't listen to patient experience with meds, does not collaborate and comes off as contemptuous. I cannot believe that in today's age with psychiatric medications this experience is even allowed to happen. Behavior contributes to the stigmas of mental healthcare instead of helping.

Overly concerned with lowering or completely cutting out medications regardless of the effect on your mental well-being.

She has moved to her own practice, Williamsburg Healthy Minds. I highly recommend Kathy Mendoza as I have been a patient of hers for around 5 years and have gotten great care! She listens and is compassionate, informative, and understanding to my mental and physical health and concerns, doesn’t rush the appointment visit. She is always positive and kind. She is very easy to contact when needed. The office and staff are very welcoming and efficient! Appointments are easy to get and offers telehealth.

Recommended as a referral from my psychiatrist of 10+ years who was retiring. My first visit was virtual. Was not very impressed. Whenever she would ask me a question, she wouldn’t let me finish answering and would just talk over me. I do not currently have insurance so I was paying $300 to listen to her talk :/ Then she starting questioning me about why I didn’t have insurance and was I sure I wasn’t able to get Medicaid. My kids have Medicaid. I know if I’m qualified or not. She must have asked if I was sure about 10 times in a row. I mean, really?? Gaslighting me on my first visit is not a good look. Thought maybe this visit was a one off for her. 2nd visit was in her office. Same experience. Talk, talk, talk.She starts in again about the insurance!! At this point, I was really getting angry. She then thought this was a great time to take my BP. What medical expert takes someone’s BP when they’re clearly upset?? So since my BP was high she refused to refill one of Rx LOL. AVOID!!!
