I was very concerned if I would be able to relate. I had not seen a therapist for many years and was not sure if the person I was meeting would be a task oriented or discovery let's figure this out type of individual. We clicked almost immediately and after her intro gave me info on my issues by bringing to my attention recent research that suggests that my issues MAY be related to dopamine disregulation. This approach, citing relevant info backed by Gold Standard research practice and providing resources that I can choose to read up and follow up with speaks to my learning style coupled with options to explore and discover. This all led to a huge sense of relief that was almost spiritual in it's intensity. I am filled with optimism and expectations for our continued sessions.
