Hands On Midwife
I went into labor and I knew Karen was on call. I met her once in the office and felt sad that we didn’t connect. Because she wasn’t my normal practice (Shady grove) I googled reviews and saw a terrible one on here. I hedged my bets and ended up having a beautiful, beautiful unmedicated birth with Karen. She advocated for all my preferences with the hospital in her soft spoken way, even getting them to open the tub that wasn’t used since covid. I asked to not receive pitocin post birth and only when she couldn’t get the bleeding to stop did Karen calmly explain to me that we should use pitocin to avoid hemmorage. She massaged me the whole time, helped me find and change positions based on where I felt pain (in my back), and did some spinning babies moves to help baby engage. I’m so happy to have had her for my birth.
