Wonderful. I had gotten a new prescription from someone else at Costco optometry just under 90 days before, but because of Thyroid Eye Disease my vision suddenly became intolerable due to double vision. I went back to Costco and explained that it wasn't their fault that my eyes changed so drastically, but I couldn't wear my new glasses at all. Dr. Julie Tonnu spent an extended amount of time fitting me with a new prescription with prisms to correct the double vision, as suggested by my Opthalmologist. She did not charge me for a new exam, and Costco made my new glasses with prisms without any additional charge. I highly recommend Dr. Tonnu and Costco Optical!

Absolutely terrible optometrist. I had 4 revisions, she could not get my prescription right. I even brought in my old contact lenses for her to compare, so she had a baseline. Each prescription was HORRIBLE! I could not see to walk. How could she get it so wrong? She even charged me the 4th time for HER mistake. You have been warned. Do not see her.

I went for an eye exam because my eyesight was getting worse. I checked the box that I didn’t want the dilation for extra $22. During the exam, Dr Tonnu said she couldn’t do anything about correcting my current prescription even though it is very low. She wanted to dilate my eyes to check the back and I consented. When I checked out, she had changed the price from $22 to $29 and charged me $120 for what should have been $86. When I questioned it, she said that’s the way it was. She also said she was planning to give me a follow appointment for free but now she wasn’t going to. I asked for a refund and won’t go back again. Don’t go here.

She rushed me through, and decided we were done despite me telling her it didn't seem quite right. I went because I was out of contacts. After a couple weeks later using the contacts and glasses prescription she changed it to, I went to another place and got an exam done. My prescription was the same as before I had gone to Dr Tonnu. I inquired with Dr. Tonnu regarding a refund (not for the prescription contacts or lenses, but only for her inaccurate exam, which she ended early despite my concerns. Immediate necessity and the fact I have grown up being told that professionals know best, I.E. if the optometrist insists that it is accurate and done, then in this case I rationalized the slight blurriness as irritation from having taken out and out in contacts so many times, but that was because I was trusting her 'professional judgement' and assuming fault in my own.), her response was that she would not refund my exam, except for 30$, because I used her prescription to buy contacts.

Calm, thorough, intelligent, and caring. A great find in this lovely town ~

Dr. Tonnu is very professional and thorough. She always spends extra time with you if needed. She is the optometrist for my entire family.
