Judy Volmert, MSW

I am an adult living on the autistic spectrum and I have been seeing Judy for several years. I have found her to be far more engaging that specialists I have seen in the past. She listens more and speaks less. She works almost entirely from memory and isn't tied to her notes. She doesn't share much about herself but she is not averse to answering a personal question now and then. I have found her to be my intellectual equal. She is fully capable of following my disjointed and nonlinear postulations when others would perceive it as little more than rambling non sequitur. Judy has helped me find the patterns and procedures I need to navigate day-to-day life and to process the occasional crisis of conscience. But, more importantly, she has been critical in teaching me how to do this myself. In making certain that I do not begin to use therapy as something I cannot live without but rather, one of many tools that I can use to improve the quality of my life.
