Jonathan was inflexible and rigid. He spends most of the time talking. He doesn’t have any nuisance to his approach, rather an almost neurotic need to follow a worksheet with bullet points. In addition he is combative which doesn’t lend to comfortable setting to heal and change.I believe in the Gottman Method but think the practitioner is important. Jonathan is very vested and impressed with himself and his accolades, earned and imagined. Save your dignity, time, and money. Find a therapist that isn’t a one trick pony. People are layered and therapist should be as well.

Jonathan's knowledge and experience with couples made him our best choice for helping my wife and me in our marriage. His compassion and empathy for each of us made the experience so healing for us. When we started with him, we had all but lost hope, but after 6 months of hard work, we feel peaceful and hopeful. He didn't just help us for a while in therapy, he guided us through experiences together that help us know what to do when we have rough moments going forward. I highly recommended him!

Jonathon Shippey's marriage counseling was a terrible experience. He is not impartial, and he doesn't show caring or empathy toward each spouse. He focuses entirely on a canned system which is very controlling and inflexible. He does not listen, interrupts and judges without showing compassion or insight. Save your money and go to someone who cares more about the people he counsels, instead of trying to charge as much as possible and prolong the process his canned system is designed to do.

Jonathan helped my husband and I who were on the brink of separation after infidelity. If you are willing to do the work and want to stay in your relationship I firmly believe he can help you. Three years after completing a year with him we are stronger than ever. The therapist we tried before him left us feeling like we were spinning in circles. I highly recommend him!
