I wish I could leave a review without the stars but unfortunately I cannot. I have had 3 different experiences with this office. The first 2 were great, the doctor provided care for both my daughter and I. He was very professional and kind, as well as the staff.
Our visit today was not as pleasant. Today I brought my 4-year old in due to vision concerns from his teacher. Prior to booking this appointment I was told by staff that this physician would be able to see my son at his young age. The first thing that was concerning is that he was talking to my son as if he were an older child. I anticipated that he would adapt his speech and how he performed the exam to cater towards my son's developmental level, and he did not. He used phrases like "Is this better or worse" which is what's used during typical eye exams. However, after hearing my son say the same word multiple times (indicating that he did not understand) he did not think to adapt his wording. Most people who work with children will also allow them to get a good look at what is being used, and if its safe even touch it so it will be less scary and he did not. Despite these things, my son did fairly well with the exam until it was time for the eye drops. He was scared and started having a fit. The doctor screamed at my son, asking him why he was acting that way. I ended up holding him down so he could get the drops. After they were placed the doctor the doctor stated, "Do you know why it burns, because of the way you were acting and you weren't listening". After sending us back to the lobby, he then proceeds to go to the lobby and speak with his staff stating multiple times, "How on earth do they get him to do shots if he does this with eyedrops?", which was very unprofessional. This was followed by asking by asking my son, "Well did you die?".
I was appalled. On the one hand I am trying to get my son who is fearful of the unknown and a stranger, under control. On the other hand I'm trying to figure out why this man just yelled at my baby. I am a healthcare provider and I work with children and adults in the operating room. I take crying children from their parents to help them get the care they need. I have also had adults yell at me because they were unhappy about some form of care they have received, and I have NEVER responded that way. I would have rather he told me the exam couldn't be completed at this time.
If you are an adult or preteen then he is a great doctor. If you have a young child I do not recommend.
