I had a drug test for a work promotion. I tested negative dilute and needed a doctors note to retest. I am on medication that causes dehydration so to counteract that, I drink fluids throughout the day. She wouldn’t provide a note stating the medications I’m on, side effects and recommendations to alleviate the symptoms. I lost out on a $20,000 increase in pay.

I have been seeing Joanna for several years now. I have to say, she's an crucial part of the team that I feel saved my life during a very long mental health battle. She has helped me find my voice to advocate for myself. She has worked with my therapist when I struggled with a very difficult psychiatrist. She proceeds to remind me of how hard I worked to get myself out of that space, and praises it. When I've had other health issues, she has worked very quickly to get me to specialists. She has communicated via TeleHealth and MyChart to get orders for specialists instead of making me go in and see her for the same referral. This even allowed me to get in the NEXT day at one instead of waiting for months for the first appointment.There are several things she has done that have made me feel heard, appreciated, and cared for. I always felt lost in the medical world as a patient but finding Joanna has helped me with that as she is part of a great group I've built to take care of me.

She is a very compassionate doctor. As someone who gets anxious walking into the doctors office, I am happy to walk in when I have an appointment with Dr. Shaw. She always addresses my concerns and listens to what I am saying, and we then come up with a plan together.

Always willing to listens and addres all of my concerns. Provides education to improve my quality of life. Is invested in each patient as if they are her family. Highly recommend her to anyone.

I have never loved a healthcare provider as much!! This office is beyond fabulous. I never have to wait & they are all so extremely nice. The hear you & validate your thoughts. I recommend a million times over!!!

She seemed great—despite greeting and simultaneously informing me she didn’t prescribe narcs. She was warm and professional but there were several red flags, including the aforementioned, that I overlooked because she was “nice.” I informed her I was experiencing pain and swelling in my wrist and thumb. She eventually referred me to a specialist but insisted “…at least try to take NSAID (ibuprofen) with Prilosec before getting a referral…” after I told her they make me violently ill. Keep in mind, I never asked or insinuated I needed pain relievers. I later saw her to address concerns about my breathing as a person who had “outgrown” asthma. She reported she didn’t hear anything and advised me to schedule another appointment if I experience these issues again. Seriously? I returned with asthma concerns only to be berated, lectured and told an unrelated diagnosis I received over 6 years ago was probably a false positive—testing proved otherwise. She flipped, I left.

Does not care about your quality of life. Doesn't try to help solve any of your health problems, only cares about test results. Tries to force you to take medication that causes side effects instead of changing it. Cares more about other doctors than patients.

She is truly the best medical person I can feel comfortable with. She listens, listens, and then will ask questions, then she will suggest testing if she feels it is necessary. She is the best thing that came into my life. Thank goodness promedica hired her. She will always be my GO TO !!!

Very Professional, takes whatever time is necessary to answer all my questions and super nice too. Also easily reached for a question through the ProMedica Patient Portal (My Chart) This is actually an app on my phone now where you can also pay bills and quickly find test results, ... etc. My Dr moved out of the area and even though I live in Perrysburg I still drive up to Sylvania. The office is also awesome and they always remember who I am!

awesome! I've seen her twice and both times it was a very pleasant and productive visit. Spend plenty of time explaining things in a kind of professional manner. A wonderful person and glad she joined Sylvania adult/pediatric

Extremely unprofessional. Very rude, complete disregard for true Physician care.

I went in for chest pains and she was extremely rude and condescending the entire time. Compassionate is not a word I would use to describe her. She barely tried to keep normal light conversation you'd have during a visit and cut me off in the middle of sentences and completely disregarded my concerns about my chest in relation to a new more extreme medication I had started.

I have never felt more comfortable with a medical professional in my life. I know she is there to support me and make sure I'm healthy and working on being happy. Knowledgeable and compassionate

I moved to Ohio 1 1/2 years ago, it is difficult to find a new provider. Joanna was the first provider I saw and I loved her. Joanna takes time to talk with you and remembers you from visit to visit. She is very compassionate and takes the time you need to talk to her. My sister is now going to Joanna and she loves her too. I have been happy with all of the physicians at Promedica Flower Hospital.

Rude and condescending.....literally rolled her eyes at me. Would leave a negative star if possible.

I have only seen her once but was very impressed. She didn't make me feel rushed and seemed really knowledgeable of my past health issues
