I had a bad reaction to the medications I was prescribed by JL mixed with alcohol. This was concerning because I had not experienced this reaction to alcohol before, and it was so severe that I landed in the emergency room. Afterward, I wanted to speak with my prescriber, JL, about possible interactions with my medications to make sure this never happened again. Despite 4 emails, multiple calls, attempts to squeeze in appointments, and my PCP also trying to contact JL, she was unreachable for over three weeks. Finally she called me unannounced. She took no responsibility for her radio silence. She did not display concern over what happened to me. I understand that she was not the cause of my episode, however she was my closest resource to unpacking and understanding the event, and she ignored me and dismissed my concerns. I came to JL because she is LGBT-friendly and I am trans. She did respect my gender. It's too bad she could not respect me as her patient.
