DeElena, ARNP (Owner) a day ago We really appreciate your positive review! - Responded by Skagit Regional Health Marc Barringer Local Guide·45 reviews·3 photos 5 minutes ago NEW I took my daughter to be evaluated for ADHD. I let it be known from the beginning that I didn't want the default treatment to be to put her on a drug. After her interview with my daughter, I was brought back into the room only to be informed that she did not feel my daughter was in the ADHD spectrum, but did suffer from anxiety and depression issues. (Note, it was never said severe depression nor do I believe she had severe depression issues). Her treatment plan was to put my 16 year old on a drug designed for people with severe depression. I started asking about side effects and long term side effects. I specifically remember her saying that there really are none. It stuck with me because I know there is no such thing as a drug with no side effects. After researching this drug and taking to people who are on this drug, I found it there are significant and potential devastating side effects. One among many being severe withdraw symptoms. So severe that those I spoke to said they will never stop taking the drug because the withdraw symptoms are so severe. It shocked me that she would do blatantly disregard a parent and put a 16 year old in a drug that would end up being a life long drug. When I confronted her on it, all she had to say was "I have no obligation under Washington state law to consult the parent on treatment." Maybe not, but when the parent is the financial provider for the child and the one that pays for the insurance, medical care, prescriptions, etc., if you feel strongly enough about a treatment plan for a minor child, you're doing a disservice to your patient by not involving the parent and getting their understanding and consent. I did not allow my daughter to start on what would be a lifelong commitment to an anti-depressant according to people who actuality took the drug. Instead, I'm making an appointment with a mental health professional to reevaluate and rethink a proper treatment plan for a minor child. I'd think long and hard before seeing this provider. She actually told me it was important to start my daughter on this drug to keep her from, get this, turning to drugs. So, the message, take drugs to stay off drugs. Too many doctors write prescriptions because it's the easy way out. That's how we got in the opioid epidemic we are in right now. When I brought this fact up to her, she told me that this stuff wasn't addictive. Maybe I have a different definition of addictive, but all of information I could find on the drug stated that it had severe withdrawal issues. That is both from medical journals as well as people on the drug. If you're body isn't addicted to something you wouldn't be having the withdrawal issues. I sincerely don't feel this provider was honest with me nor my daughter, after my consulting with her about what the provider told her. I won't be going back to her. I can't in good faith recommend anyone see this provider

Seemed rushed, didn’t listen to my concerns or thoughts and wrote down incorrect notes in my file that were not true. Made me feel unheard, and didn’t seem to actually listen to what I was saying, unfortunately. And automatically changed my medication without talking with me through it to come to an agreement together.
