Advertised as able to work w/children w/autism.Turns out he had a few patients w/autism in the past, but no experience/understanding of co-occurring conditions/best practices.Decided not to move forward. 2 months later he submitted a bill for intake. Harassed me by phone & text although I communicated my intentions to pay after confirming copay w/insurance. Mind you this harassment began 8 days after receiving the 1st bill. He sent emails directing me to immediately pay him for a service that was “provided 2 months ago” even though my 1st bill was 8 days prior. I decided to pay the copay on day 11 & take up discrepancy w/my insurance rather than endure his communications. He encouraged me to call him to provide CC info over the phone w/out disclosing his additional fee for processing cards. I was never informed of the fee. He also called/texted multiple times outside business hours, as late as 9:00pm. ABSOLUTE overkill for a $40 bill that was 8 days old. Unprofessional. Avoid.

Dr. Whitefield is (from my experience) the best psychologist in Austin. I am a teenage boy and have been seeing him for three years now. He has helped me gain more friends, more romantic confidence, and the ability to rationally control my mental illness. He is specialized in various techniques, all of which have helped me cope with trauma and strained relationships with other people. Despite going in with serious afflictions, I cannot recommend Dr. Whitefield enough.

Dr. W has worked with both of our daughters, independently and through family work. Both experiences have been so helpful for our family. Both of our daughters struggle with anxiety, and he’s helped them to cope with friendships, nightmares, and drama within our extended family. Our girls trust him and value his guidance. He’s been great to schedule appointments with as well, we get text reminders and emailed receipts for every appointment.

Had a great start to therapy for kids, but moved offices with no communication and very difficult to work through billing with my HSA account (refused to cash the checks and demanding personal payment). To the point that it made me question working with my kids going forward.

Dr Whitefield helped my son tremendously. He gained his trust over time with games and gentle discussion until my son got to a point where he would tell him anything. He is patient, kind, and respectful both to children and their parents. He was a godsend, expert in his field, and I never doubted for a second that my child was in the best possible hands. Never have I experienced a physician going so above and beyond for his patients and their families.

Dr. Whitefield has helped our family immensely. My teenage sons have dealt with ADHD, trauma, severe anger issues, depression, anxiety disorders. They open up to him and look forward to appts. They always feel better afterwards. He takes time to update parents and involves the family in practical solutions. He is pro family and goes above and beyond to make sure that all needs are met. We were referred to him from 3 other families that successfully sought treatment from him.

We take our son to Dr. Whitefield for ADHD issues, and our family life and our son's school experience has completely changed since working with him. Dr. Whitefield spends the end of each our sessions playing really interesting games with our son, and as a result, he loves going to see Dr. Whitefield even though we may be working through really difficult problems. We have recommended him to two other families, who have also had great experiences. He's a godsend!

There are no words to express my gratitude to Doctor Whitefield. After seeing several doctors, I finally found him! He is very professional and has helped me find my way. I don’t usually do reviews but after seeing him for over a year I felt it was necessary I let other people know how great he is. I saw several doctors prior to him and for the first time in my life I feel at peace and i know I can face anything that comes my way. I am for ever thankful to this wonderful doctor and human being

Dr. Whitefield has been a huge help to our family. We have a child (now 12) w/ADHD, Dysgraphia & some mild Sensory Processing issues. His level of frustration with many day-to-day activities has been quite a challenge for our family. Our pediatrician recommended Dr. Whitefield & we couldn't be happier. Our son needed someone that "got it" to talk with, and we needed someone to explain to us, how better to work with our son. Dr. Whitefield provides great info & recommendations.

Dr Whitefield recently (Sept 2018) saw our 6 yr for evaluation on behavioral issues we were experiencing at school. He was recommended to us by our pediatrician and was a great fit for our needs. He was understanding, caring, and professional - always upfront, always on time and dependable. We have been to several therapist and he provided the most thorough evaluation that is putting us on the path to help our son. From our recent experience, I disagree with many of these older reviews.

Dr. Whitefield is a very kind and understandingfamily psychologist. He is awesome at taking a bad situation and turning it into something you thought was impossible. He gets 5 STARS from me and my family. On the other side of things, such as where the problems began in the first place, would degrade Dr. Whitefield publicly and state negative comments to people. I completely disagree with any negativity towards Dr. Whitefield, and I am sure you will too.

His personality and demeanor were calming, he listens, and he provides extremely helpful input in creating safety plans, family plans, and strategy tool boxes. We are forever indebted to the new sense of normalcy we have for our family.

Dr. Whitefield was originally a referral from a school professional. He stepped up to the plate to deal with difficult family dynamics, staying with us for numerous years, providing us with documentation need for physicians, school personnel, etc., and became a safe-place for our family to heal. Even though we have a different goal in mind upon beginning this multi-year process with Dr. Whitefield, he was graciously there for us in guiding us to form a different view of our new start.
