Very poor “bedside manner”, no eye contact, cut me off mid sentence. I wish I had checked the online reviews beforehand. A lot of others had similar horrific experiences, sad to say. An overwhelming majority flunked her.

Awful, from the 1st appointment. She won't listen-knows it all without reading the chart. Changed my prescriptions without a backup plan-I react badly to most meds. It takes time & patience to get everything balanced. Ivy doesn't have the patience or knowledge. Ivy was told her decisions were making me very sick. She won't do the work to stabilize her patients. She told me to come up with a list of drugs I could take! I don't have the training or licensing. She was so rude to a pharmacist, he called to make sure I was ok. My counselor, a doctorate, researched Ivy and warned me to leave her care immediately

No problems at all but I wasn't there to talk, just to explain my previous diagnosis from another state and get on my regular scripts in North Carolina. It might be different if you're looking for a "talk therapist" but if you know what you need and just want to get in and out and on with your day she's a perfectly nice person.

Do not waste your time with this doctor, if you even want to call her that. She just stares at her computer screen the whole time and is very socially awkward. She does not listen to your problems, but instead creates more problems for you. I took the time out of my day to write this for anyone else who is in actual need of treatment. She does not care about her patients and wants to get you out of the door as quickly as possible.

Talks very low and quiet. Seems out of it and has no energy or excitement when seeing pts. Seems very distracted and forgets your history. Acts like all her job is to open the door, make sure you are still breathing and give you refills. I don’t have a warm type of feeling from her at all. I wish she would talk louder, work on communicating with patients and at least try to act interested. I have had other psych drs/NPs and this one is the worst and I dread wasting my time going there. The building is also ancient, run down, dirty, disgusting and outdated and feels like Duke has not entered the 21 century- going there makes you feel the stigma of mental illness as the facility is so bad- it’s like one flew out of the cuckoos nest. Pretty surprising that Duke can’t do a better job for this patient population. Bottom line is do not go here and if you have to demand to see someone else who gives a damn.

Dr. Settlemires is one of most intelligent, kind and professional Drs with whom I have dealt. My experience with her has been great for over 3+ yrs of care. She is attentive; listens to details and helps me to make the best decisions for my care. I have done well on all the medications which she has prescribed and I am super sensitive to a lot of meds with many drug allergies. I highly trust her and her bedside manner with me is outstanding!

Omg. I’m truly speechless. Why is Dr. Settlemeir allowed to work with humans? My 90 minute consultation lasted 14 minutes and she made the most ludicrous assumptions about my mental health history based on 2 things I said that she was only sort of listening to while starring out the window. She makes it very clear that she does not want to do her job and that’s unfortunate considering the importance of her job. I will never return and strongly suggest you find another provider.

Horrendous. She stared out the window while I was explaining my symptoms. Totally insensitive and rude. Should NOT be working with humans. Gave the impression I was bothering her and she kept not listening and making assumptions. I will never get what was oh so important to ignore me and focus on what was going on out her window. Total waste of time and money.

Ivy is a nice person don’t get me wrong. She just doesn’t do her job well in my opinion. Now I will say in fairness Duke sucks when it comes to any type of health mental/physical. Duke as a company doesn’t want to help the patients instead they are against the patients. I say this because ivy can only spend but like 15 minutes with you because she has to see probably 50 other patients that same day. It’s crazy! But ivy doesn’t check your blood pressure or temperature or weight. I DON’T recommend

If you want to be profiled and stereotyped, schedule an appt. 3month wait for a 15minute appointment. Was classified as a drug seeker.
