Dr. Gabriel Somarriba, PSY.D

I’ve been going to Dr. S for over 2 years and have referred several of my close friends to him. I have a lot of people ask me who my therapist is because they’ve seen an incredible positive change in me. I can’t express enough how amazing Dr. S is. I value his wisdom, honesty, humor, and suggested educational resources to help me navigate my issues and challenges. I will be passing on the knowledge I’ve gained to my family and friends for years to come. Thank you Dr. S for listening to me, for making me laugh through my tears, for providing me with a solid action plan, and most importantly for calming my restless heart. You gave me hope, confidence, and strength when I didn’t have any. I’m forever grateful! You are especially talented in helping clients with extremely challenging and complex situations and bringing them to a sense of peace and acceptance.

He taught me some important concepts that will stick with me long term. He is kind, wise and witty. He does well at promoting self-efficacy, accountability, and love towards ourselves and others. He made a lot of whimsical and off-the-wall references when sometimes I wanted a more objective and thoughtful discussion; however I may have invited those silly responses. He’s open minded and I feel is willing to modify his approach to best connect with a patient and meet their needs. Overall I enjoyed my time with him and would recommend to a friend or family member.

Doc is great! He always makes me see situations from a different point of view to find full clarity. I always leave feeling so much lighter than when I went. Every session could keep going and I look forward to the progress of the next one.

Dr. Somarriba certainly isn't a bad guy, but I can't say I'd give him over 3.5 or 4 stars. He's not the most timely guy. It was normal for me to be seen five to ten minutes after my appointment time. Some issues, he seemed to be very understanding. And others, he was very resistant to try and see my point of view.

This guy was terrible. Was so out in left field with his questions. Very amateurish, didn;t listen to me at all. Seemed like a nice enough guy, just not good at the whole point of his job. Kept quoting dumb movies and talking about professional wrestling(!?) No wonder it took like a day to get in to see him at Psych BC
