My wife is a recovering alcoholic and was referred to Elaine by a psychiatrist at her rehab. After seeing Elaine yesterday my wife returned home an emotional mess! My wife sought help for the underlying issues and for her anxiety. Elaine made inappropriate and unprofessional comments to my wife regarding alcoholism and was even a bit aloof to my wife! My wife felt berated when, after explaining to Elaine her anxiety, Elaine told my wife several times “that’s sad!”. The way Elaine kept saying that to her was in a manner to express judgement of my wife and NOT to empathize with her feelings. Elaine was also less than educated regarding alcoholism and in fact stated she believes it’s not a disease & wanted to know why my wife couldn’t just stop! Ignorance! There are too many unprofessional & impolite comments to list here but Elaine truly needs to be evaluated as a mental health professional by whom ever governs the profession. She did more damage than I can express here!
