Therapy is about work, hard work. Dory has boundaries, real boundaries. This was not easy for me initially as I never knew what a boundary was. Yes, I did not act on some suggestions (fear) and yes, I did act on many suggestions (through the fear). These changes have improved my quality of life tremendously. I am successful, disciplined and full of life, but I was a hot mess. I learned new terms. I studied them, endlessly. We spoke in depth. I learned about myself and took many steps towards becoming mindful, self aware and self loving. I didn’t know what I didn’t know and she helped me understand myself and what I was deserving of with gentle support. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I have not been to another therapist. Finding the right person on the other side of the chair is not easy. Not everyone is a match. My doctor knew me well enough and matched me with someone who had what I needed. Don’t give up if you don’t match. It’s OK. It’s recommended!

I felt as though Dory did not respect me as a patient. Insisted on weekly visits even after I explained in sensible, educated terms why biweekly works best for me. Appeared annoyed for lack of a better word when I was not ready to take her rather harsh suggestions regarding my relationships. Overall not a good experience.
