Uncaring and Harmful - Please Beware
Having Dr. Riviere as a therapist was a deeply painful experience for me. I saw her during a particularly vulnerable time in my life. I opened up and shared a challenge I was struggling with and she immediately responded by labeling and judging me. I was deeply hurt. But when I got the courage to tell her this, she was unbothered: She simply dismissed my concerns and said I was welcome to find a different therapist. After this, I stopped seeing her.I learned much later on that how Dr. Riviere behaved as the therapist was wrong:1. She labeled me. 2. She judged me.3. She dismissed me when I shared that I felt hurt by her actions. I learned that this is emotional abuse. And it's worse, and particularly harmful, when it's done by a therapist: a licensed professional in a position of trust.Dr. Riviere seems to lack basic empathy. I believe that she should not be a therapist. If you are considering her as your provider, I strongly urge you to find someone else.

Past Client Here to Warn Others – Apr 02, 2025

Does not value the client
Dr. Rivière does not value a client! The day before a session she said “polled her clients for the following day” and TOLD me that my session the following day would be virtual because none of the 8 separate clients she “polled” wanted their session in person because of the weather (NO SNOW OR RAIN in forcast) and she said she “would not drive 45 minutes to see only me in person”. She called me by the wrong name twice in text messages and only texts when she sees the need. I inquired by text if she was in receipt of the paperwork she wanted me to complete and she said “I don’t have the time to do that!…

I have had several therapists through out the years and I've stuck with Dr. Riviere because her treatment approach is the only one that worked for me. I trust her wholeheartedly. I'm not sure what I would do without her.

Dr. Riviere is very kind, gentle, and non-judgmental. Her strategies for wellness are straight-forward and common among practitioners (so, no strange or difficult solutions).
