Deborah Nelson is the best!
Deborah Nelson listens, cares, find solutions probably because she listens. She is the best and keeps me functioning, well until laws stepped in and said she can't anymore dor some stuff which affects my health greatly. I have seen Deborah for at least 15 years and there is no physician I trust more than I do her. We are team, we make decisions together, she listens to my ideas. And she understands the concept of giving is I needed, less is more in keeping pain to a minimum, but sometimes things happen and I need a little more, she is right there for that as well. My life changed for the better when I got to see just her and kept those other do nothing or we do not know what to do but things that make the condition worse doctors out of my care. But now laws have changed, nothing to do with Deb, but that puts my health care in jeopordy which I am experiencing just trying to find a doctor to take care of what she did. I love Deb as a person and as a trusted physician.

Deb listens well. She knows her supervising physician’s approach very well. She takes as much time as needed to make every option clear. There is no PA-C who is better!!

Deb always is looking for ways to more efficiently address my pain and is very knowledgeable, empathetic, and understanding when I tell her my pain problems. In this morning's Telemed visit, for example, I told her I'm struggling to get a decent night's sleep because of the lingering pain from my rotator cuff and bicep tendon repair surgery. She understands that the bicep tendon is causing most of the pain, that I dislike taking Gabapentin (Neurontin) at night because it makes me groggy and frustrated in the morning, and that I also need to keep on top of my knee pain (from arthritis encroaching on my Oct. 1996 ACL and meniscus repair). She thus prescribed lidocain patches for my arm/shoulder and made me realize that I need to do my PT exercises more frequently to aggressively fight the pain. She also said she would order more Supartz (hyaluronic acid) to inject in my knee in advance of a late August (2020) hiking trip, even though my knee is pain is currently minimal.

Exceptional patient care with super talented and kind doctors!!! Dr. Virgil Balint and PA-C Deborah Nelson have literally improved my life. I have seen, Dr. Balint and primarily PA-C Deb Nelson where she is my lead caregiver at National Spine & Pain Center (NSPC). My case has been one with several complications caused by an orthopedic practice. I cannot say enough about the tremendous care I received from both Dr. Nelson and Dr. Balint. They have helped me more than I can put in to words.

Wow, Deborah is great. I have a complex history of chronic pain and have seen many doctors and received a variety of treatments over the years. I am new to the Reston area and needed a good doc and went to see Doctor Balint. Deborah is the PA and was excellent. She reviewed my lengthy medical history which few medical professionals seem to do and was a great listener and was quick to understand what I was dealing with. Doctor Balint seemed great too and he and Deborah seem to work well together.

Deb is a life saver. She is a very compassionate person and LISTENS to her patients. She is treats the person and not the condition and she will refer you to other specialists if the need arises.
