Saved my son’s back health and tennis career
Dr. Stitzel saw my son Joe about two times per year while he was getting well. He started out with a 17 degree curvature of the spine at age 12 while he was growing at a rapid rate and ended up with a slight eight degree curvature by age 18. Yes, it does take a lot of discipline if you really want to succeed with this program, but it does work and Dr. Stitzel and staff are knowledgeable and kind. Joe is happily playing tennis with a straight back.

I received a phone consultation upon submitting my X-rays to his Scolismart clinic. Since being on his company’s Facebook group, it has become apparent he is looking to exploit scoliosis patients into buying his overpriced products that insurance won’t cover. If you have any questions, he and his employees are condescending and hostile and will block you from the “support group” if they suspect you won’t blindly support their products and everything they say. This is absolutely unacceptable when selling a medical device that directly affects a patient’s spine and muscles. I can’t believe he’s licensed.

I was fitted with a Scoliosis Activity Suit three months ago in Dr. Stitzel's office. At the time he seemed to be a caring, genuine man. I did everything he suggested such as wade into wearing the suit, do the DNA test, do the neurohormonal/neurotransmitter test, do the bone density test and start taking all the various supplements as a result of the tests. I recently started having strange, burning pain in my lower back. I emailed Dr. Stitzel to see if he had any suggestions as to a different pain supplement or anything else he thought I should be doing? He basically told me that I should seek out a local chiropractor in my area since all my $1500 for the suit got me was an evaluation and fitting. Basically told me that if I had any questions in the future I should consult someone named Teri and that he was not responsible for my future spinal health! I was shocked and extremely disssppointed in his response to say the least!

Dr Clayton Stitzel mods a facebook page called Scoliosis warriors & will block you if you post anything that contradicts his claims. This is dangerous as he doesn't want to acknowledge scoliosis treatment should be determined on a case by case basis.

Dr Stizel is a good at marketing himself and his practice, as well as misleading and financially benefitting from parents wiling to do anything for their kids. We wasted time and money here. Like others, after the two week boot camp we were told our daughter's scoliosis had been significantly reduced. The report was glowing and we were thrilled. Upon returning home and taking followup xrays at UCSF, we found our daughter's condition had actually worsened. Our daughter required surgery.

Our experience was that he was not honest about the lack of real progress. If we had it to do over again we would have regular, periodic evaluations with an MD to monitor progress and review options. If surgery ends up being needed it may be much more extensive if condition progresses in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, that was our experience. Not saying this treatment cannot be effective, because for many it probably is. Just saying keep it real and honest.
