Not professional, not helpful, judgemental
I feel validated reading the other comments. My experience was she was condescending, rude, and judgmental. She corrected how I said certain words and how I used others. I felt judged, not listened to, and WORSE than I did prior to seeing her. I cannot believe she is still practicing.

Cheryl Graves is very unfair, inconsistent and will charge you for services she hadn’t even served. She would forget our appointments and still charge me. She would always forget who I was when I would text her. She preys on the weak and vulnerable. I would NEVER recommend her to my worse enemy!!

Prejudiced, self-centered, only does phone calls
I made the mistake of working with Cheryl before reading her reviews. She got me with that "therapist's therapist" line on her Psychology Today profile and almost immediate availability. I don't know what kind of provider she serves well, but she's definitely not a young CMHC social worker and suicide prevention counselor's therapist. She told me to "stop hiding behind my profession" when I needed to (deviate from the tx plan she made from my intake form to) process compassion fatigue. My experience was similar to that of previous reviewers. Her counseling style is privileged, judgemental, and inflexible. Her techniques include: making assumptions about me, followed by rude comments/leading questions that forced me to defend myself; trying to tell me how the world works while making harsh and inaccurate generalizations about people (including my loved ones) who've struggled with things like addiction, codependency, and generational poverty; and TALKING ABOUT HERSELF ALL THE TIME.

Cheryl is the best therapist I’ve ever had. She definitely does care about her patients. She has gone out of her way to ensure that I receive the best out of our sessions and has even stayed after our session if needed. She goes above and beyond. I am glad I did not read the bad reviews about her before booking my appointment with her. I’ve been her client for two years and have no plans of changing therapist. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a compassionate therapist. Thank you Cheryl for helping me through the hardest chapter of my life. Forever grateful to have met you!

Run. Do not book an appointment with Cheryl. I was making so much progress on my own until her and now I have more trauma. she was victim blaming, would not simply believe me and listen to my experience. She made me prove my problems, saying every problem I had was in my control I just wasn’t doing enough. so beyond privileged. She was late to every appointment in some way whether 4, 10, or 22 minutes.

I've seen Cheryl off-and-on for several years no, and appreciate the ongoing relationship we've had. She is an EAP provider with my employer, and it's always been easy to get that first appointment (and subsequent appts) booked. She's helpful, she challenges my assumptions and suggests appropriate, personalized mechanisms to cope with issues I bring to her. Always helpful.

Cheryl is fantastic. I wasn't sure what to expect from therapy, but my sessions with Cheryl are invaluable. She made me feel completely at ease discussing anything. She is highly engaging, astute and very knowledgable. She instills high expectations in her clients. She recognizes the work that needs to be done. She is exceptional and I would definitely recommend Cheryl to anyone considering therapy.

Cheryl was demeaning and assumptive about who I was as a person. Instead of trying to understand my point of view or hear what I had to say, she assumed the worst of me and my intentions. She did not help in any way, in fact, she made things worse for me. I would not go see Cheryl as she is more interested in what she feels than what you feel. Save yourself the time and find a therapist that will hear you and help you.

Cheryl is very disorganized. I met with her once. She was almost half an hour late, and then spent the first 10-15 minutes reading through my intake paperwork and making photocopies. While she may be an excellent counselor for some people with some issues, I found her focus on herself and her own experience and her lack of interest in her patience is troubling.

Cheryl was incredible both as an individual therapist, but as a couple's therapist as well. My husband and I are better than ever, and it's due to her. She's helped us navigate our relationship struggles as well as personal struggles off and on for several years. I cannot recommend her enough, she's an incredible professional.

I owe my life to Cheryl, seriously. When I was discharged from the hospital I had to go to counseling as part of my outpatient program. On day one she asked me to trust her and that we would get through it together as long as I was always honest. We have made a WONDERFUL relationship and I know I can tell her anything. She has helped me heal from losing my brother and re-discovery and defining who I am after he's passed. I could never say enough great things about her.

Seemed competent, but after each therapy session our 16 year old daughter seemed agitated. A year later, our daughter confided that Ms Graves had been repeatedly coercing her to become sexually active to help solve her problems. At the time, our high school daughter was dating a very manipulative and emotionally-cruel older boy. I'm so glad we stopped going to Ms Graves and even more grateful that my daughter was strong enough at 16 to recognize terrible advice.

I called her almost a week ago to schedule a new patient appointment, and I still have yet to receive a phone call back. Is that an acceptable form of practice? Makes me rethink wanting to even begin a therapeutic relationship with someone that can't even bother to return a phone call. I'll go elsewhere and recommend everyone to do the same.

I saw Cheryl a handful of times but one day I called to reschedule an appointment and she never returned my call. I followed up a few days later with a text to be sure but still no response. Looking back at the end of our last appointment, she didn't confirm our next meeting. I thought it odd at the time but didn't bring it up. I feel that she should have spoken to me personally to let me know if it wasn't a good fit for her skills. On that basis, I cannot recommend her services.
