Charles Shipley will first sell you on how intelligent he is and who he knows. After that, anytime you develop self esteem that might mean you aren't paying him weekly, he will discourage it in its cradle. I wouldn't put it past him that whoever cuts him the biggest check gets pronounce most healthy either.

He is amazing. He promotes personal growth, while an excellent listener and always validating emotions. Gives great tools, books and is a wonderful example on how to overcome stresses in life, especially the undeserved stress.

I would be embarrassed if I’d worked with a family as long as Charles did mine and we ended up where we are, which is not just broken, but destroyed. Especially given he professes to be so intelligent. Charles never addressed my abusive husband’s behavior, who he was clearly enamored with. I walked out of his office after spending not just 1 hr, but usually 3 with my cheeks raw from crying only for them to scab over and to no avail. The only other explanation for why he never helped us is because there is no money in a cure and he knew as long as he had us for clients he’d never have to worry about getting paid. I honestly feel there is nothing worse than a therapist who will not address an abusive husband but I think this speaks to Charles’ inferiority complex and how he isn’t capable of calling another man out. Easier to just tell the woman she’s the one with the problem. I put far too much faith in this man for too long and it cost me and my children unspeakable pain.
