Stuck in a rut, limited insight.
While he's a nice guy, I didn't feel that he had much insight into our particular problem(s). He seemed to try to apply his single model to our problem which I don't feel matched. He didn't realize that I could not speak openly in front of my partner and appeared to get frustrated as a result. Even after I left a message for him that I couldn't talk openly in front of my partner, he continued to apply his mismatched model to our problem, disregarding my direct input. Sure, everyone's upbringing has an effect on their reactions, but that doesn't mean that the current relationship problems are solely due to one's (mis)interpretation of situations. Overall, I felt like he was in a rut and couldn't see that there was any other source to problems than peoples' upbringing.
