Dr. Bohan Farrell, DNP

Working with Dr. Farrell was a transformative experience during one of the most challenging periods of my life. In today’s complex world, having a psychiatrist who understands the broader social and emotional context—and who actively advocates for positive change—is invaluable. I am incredibly grateful for her care, and my life is genuinely better because of her.

Bohan was an integral part of my mental health journey. She went above and beyond for me in making sure I was receiving her full attention and care during our sessions. The way I felt completely heard and seen by her was so validating. I would not be where I am today had it not been for her.

Dr. Bohan Farrell is a very professional, helpful, caring, and overall just pleasant person. As my primary Psychiatrist for several months, she changed my life tremendously for the better. She was able to give me a proper diagnosis, amazing treatment plan, and was with me every step of the way. Bohan was absolutely incredible during my time of care with her. For seven months, she listened to my concerns, got me on a treatment plane that completely improved my day to day functionality and followed up at each visit allowing me the time to ask any questions I had. She never made me feel that my concerns were insignificant and she was honest about her concerns for me. She encouraged me to begin therapy and it has altered my mind set into a much healthier space. I highly recommend her as a mental health provider.

Dr. Farrell was my third psychiatrist. In the first appointment she spent more than five times the time than my previous psychiatrists. She changed my medication and I was a new person less than a week later. I highly recommend anyone considering a doctor change to do so to her practice.

I would strongly recommend Dr. Farrell to anyone seeking support for mental health. My experience with her changed my negative perception of psychiatry altogether. Dr. Farrell actively listened to my concerns, and worked with me, as a wise physician and an equitable partner, toward my mental and physical health . She patiently worked with me, to discover what works best to support my overall well-being. She is one of the best practitioners I have been fortunate to see.

My appointments with Dr. Farrell were probably the best interaction I’ve had with a psychiatrist. I felt like she asked in depth questions to get to know me without any snap judgements. Because of the way she communicated I felt like we were making a treatment plan that was a collaboration. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell

My experience with Dr Farrell has been the single most beneficial relationship as far as receiving medical care. When I began my journey with her I immediately felt her knowledge and experience working to improve my mental health. Together we have transformed my mental health from a dark place to a place where I can finally feel freedom. I can't recall any Dr in the past 10 years of my life that has benefited me as much as Dr Farrell. My symptoms were anxiety and depression and I found each day very difficult to manage. I was afraid of ruining my relationship, my work, and school. Today I find myself less worried and enjoying life unlike before. If you are looking for a Dr to help you I highly recommend Dr Farrell.

I had some bad experiences with mental health providers prior to having Dr. Farrell. She was the first provider that took me seriously, and cared about my mental health. She is also super supportive of LBGTQIA+ !!! PCSD doesn’t give their providers enough time to get in deep in conversation with them but she has always made sure to make our 15 minutes time well spent. I have NEVER left an appointment with her feeling unheard, not helped or like she didn’t care about my well-being. If I wasn’t switching insurance providers I would still gladly have her on my mental health team! I highly recommend her to anyone who needs psychiatric care. :) <3

Dr Farrell is AWESOME. I am trans and in a homosexual relationship and she has been 100% respectful about those things, and my pronouns. She is the only provider who worked with me and consulted other providers to find the right med for me and IT WORKS. I suffer from OCD and I am not exaggerating one bit when I say having meds that finally work for me has changed my life. She is so kind hearted and genuinely cares for her patients. If she or other providers are ever quick in their appointments it is because they are literally given no time and too much to do within that time. She’s phenomenal!

I have been a patient of Dr. Farrell since late summer of 2020 and have really enjoyed being under her attentive care. Our first intake interview was thorough and she took her time to get to know my history, current concerns and ways I would like to improve. She definitely understood my priorities and made it clear that what was important to me, was important to her as well. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell!

Dr. Farrell is one of the best providers I have worked with and would highly recommend her to others. She is very caring and I really feel like she listened to me. We worked together to find the best solution for my situation. I also had an easy time making appointments to talk with her. I appreciate her calm demeanor and her meaningful approach!

Dr. Farrell is absolutely amazing. She cared about my well being and was generally concerned about my overall health. In one instance, I happened to be losing a lot of weight and she immediately went into motherly mode. Although our visits were through telehealth due to COVID, we were able to have thoughtful and engaging conversations. One of my favorite health providers compared to most. If only the world had more Psychiatrists like her!

Dr. Farrell has been such a great help to me . She has went above and beyond to help me with my issues. I highly recommend her. She is one of the best.

I was new to San Diego in November of 2020 when I began working with Dr.Farrell. From then, and even still, she has been great! She showed major concern and care for me when I became allergic to a medication that was helping me. She wasted no time helping me transition to other medications (when you struggle with BPD and depression, that can be hard to find and take several different trials until you find the right one or ones) and I have been stable on the new meds since then. When a huge dynamic shifted in my relationship she expressed support and empathy for my situation at every visit. I've always felt that I could be genuine and transparent with her and I believe she is with me as well. Her job can't be easy, especially in these days and I believe she doesn't fall short from giving me or other patients her very best. Thank you Dr. Farrell !

The worst psychiatrist I have ever been to. Whenever I tried to make an appointment with her about managing my meds, the appointment would always be less than 5 minutes. It never felt like she cared to listen about how it was going and she was in a rush to get over talking to me. She prescribed a very weird dosage of my medicine in a different version than before, and then didn’t ask the next month how it went. I was so frustrated and felt so not listened to when she was my psychiatrist 0/10 would not recommend unless you want a doctor that doesn’t care about you or try to problem solve with you.
